W&J GRAHAM

Founded in 1820 by W&J Graham in Portugal’s Douro valley, Graham’s has developed over time an unmatched reputation as one of the greatest names in Port. The Superb performance of Graham’s Ports relies on the choice of the finest quality grapes, coming primarily from five Quintas, amongst the best in the upper Douro valley: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta das Lages (in the Rio Torto) and two others, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas, privately owned by a member of the Symington family.

These Quintas, sitting in the heart of the upper Douro valley, enjoy an ideal combination of a hot & dry micro-climate, coupled with a unique schist soil that provide the best conditions for growing and optimal ripening.

TASTING REVIEWS & SCORES

Landmark Vintage, February 2018, 96 Points

The LM team tried the 20 Year old at the Graham’s Port Tasting at the EIT Savoy London on 20th February 2017.  An excellent Port showing strong balanced character, good grip, length and wonderful finish.  Ageing very nicely in the bottle.

Jancis Robinson, November 2011, 17 Points

Dark old tawny. Smells of chocolate-covered raisins. Very round and sweet on the front palate and then it all tightens up to be dominated by rancio character. Much drier in both senses on the finish than on the nose. Assertive but quite astringent with the merest suggestion of a hole in the middle.

Jancis Robinson Scoring:

20 – Truly exceptional
19 – A humdinger
18 – A cut above superior
17 – Superior
16 – Distinguished
15 – Average, a perfectly nice drink with no faults but not much excitement
14 – Deadly dull
13 – Borderline faulty or unbalanced
12 – Faulty or unbalanced
